About the School

Adamson University (AdU) is a private Catholic university on San Marcelino Street in Manila. Founded in 1932 by Greek chemist George Lucas Adamson, it was originally an industrial chemistry school before expanding into a full university run by the Vincentian Fathers (Congregation of the Mission).

Adamson holds CHED Autonomous status and is recognized as a Center of Excellence in Engineering, Pharmacy, and Education. It is part of the NCAA Philippines and is known for its Soaring Falcons basketball team.

1932

Greek-American chemist George Lucas Adamson established the school to provide affordable technical education in industrial chemistry.

1941

Operations were suspended during the Japanese occupation; the school suffered significant damage during the Battle of Manila.

1964

The Congregation of the Mission (Vincentian Fathers) assumed administration, infusing the institution with its religious charism.

1971

Adamson School of Industrial Chemistry was elevated to Adamson University, expanding beyond its original technical focus.

2006

Adamson received CHED Autonomous status, recognizing its consistent academic quality and institutional governance.
