About the School
Samar State University (SSU) is a public state university in Catbalogan City, Samar. Established in 1904, it is the premier state university in the Samar island group and the oldest educational institution in the Eastern Visayas.
SSU is committed to education, research, and extension services for the communities of Samar. It holds CHED recognition and has been steadily expanding its program offerings.
The university plays a critical role in disaster resilience education and community rebuilding, particularly following the devastation of Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) in 2013.
