First-Time Login Guide for New Students

Welcome to college! As a new student (freshman or transferee), your first login to the student portal can feel confusing—especially if you’ve never used one before. Most Philippine universities (BSU, VSU, OLFU, RTU, UE, CVSU, PUP, and others) follow a similar process for first-time access.

This guide covers everything you need: default credentials, required steps, and what to do after logging in successfully.

1. Find Your Student Portal Link

First, locate the correct login page:

  • Use our student portal directory to easily find your school’s student portal.
  • Check your admission email, acceptance letter, or the official school website (usually under “Students” or “Portal”).

2. Default Username and Password

Schools rarely give you a unique password upfront. Common defaults include:

  • Username: Your Student ID Number (found on your acceptance letter, COR, or ID card). Sometimes it’s your email (e.g., 202312345@school.edu.ph).
  • Password: Often one of these (case-sensitive):
    • Your birthday in YYYYMMDD format (e.g., 20050115)
    • Last 8 digits of your ID number
    • “password”, “12345678”, or “student123”
    • Your full name in lowercase (firstname.lastname)
    • National ID or application number
Pro Tip: Check your enrollment/admission email—many schools explicitly state the default credentials there.

3. First Login Steps

  1. Enter your default username and password.
  2. If successful, the portal will usually force you to change your password immediately.
  3. Create a strong new password: 8+ characters, mix uppercase/lowercase, numbers, and symbols.
  4. Some portals ask you to set security questions or add a recovery email/phone.
  5. Verify or update your personal info (address, contact details).
Important: Change your password right away! Default passwords are insecure and shared across new students.

4. Common First-Time Issues & Fixes

  • “Invalid credentials” → Double-check Student ID format (no spaces/dashes) and try common default passwords.
  • Portal not activated yet → Some schools activate student accounts only after enrollment is finalized. Wait or contact the registrar.
  • No email received → School email might be created upon first login—use the default method first.

5. After Successful First Login

  • Explore the portal: check enrollment schedule, subjects, grades section, fees.
  • Set up notifications (if available).
  • Add a personal recovery email in settings.
  • Bookmark the portal for quick access, or simply use StudentPortal.ph to easily find your school’s portal.
