Palawan State University (PSU) is a public state university in Puerto Princesa, Palawan. Established in 1910, it is the only state university in the province of Palawan and serves as the primary higher education institution for the entire island.

PSU has expanded from a single campus to multiple satellite campuses across Palawan. It is recognized for its programs in marine sciences, environmental management, and tourism ”” fitting for a province known as the “Last Frontier” of the Philippines.

The university plays a critical role in environmental conservation, biodiversity research, and sustainable tourism development for the UNESCO-designated Puerto Princesa Underground River and the Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park region.

1910

Established during the American colonial period to provide basic education to the people of Palawan province.

1965

The institution was reorganized as a teacher’s college, focusing on producing educators for the island province.

The school was elevated and renamed to reflect its expanded program offerings beyond teacher education.

1994

Republic Act 7818 elevated the institution to university status, recognizing its growth and service to Palawan.

2010
